When things go wrong, they often go wrong in a fashion and to a magnitude little anticipated. Preparing for large negative eventualities is known as contingency planning - that is working through a list of probable and possible scenarios that an organisation or its employees might face as a result of its activities.
In preparing contingency plans, our initial priority is to identify those factors that are most likely to have the largest influence on the outcome of a particular scenario. From there, in partnership with our clients and other stakeholders, we formulate response and control mechanisms that are effective because they mirror the threats involved and are flexible enough to track the changing dynamic of the incident.
